Resumo

The “Douro Sublimado: Fall and Winter” program offers a unique cultural experience for lovers of wine and the work of Miguel Torga. It all starts in Régua, where in the morning we'll take you to the São Leonardo de Galafura viewpoint and Quinta Coimbra de Mattos. Lunch will be served in a cozy family Wine Estate, with regional dishes.

After lunch, we'll embark on a Rabelo boat cruise along the Douro River, sailing between the town of Pinhão and Foz do Tua. Disembarkation at the Pinhão pier is scheduled for 5.00 p.m. After some free time to explore the area, a charming train ride along the riverbank follows.

Get ready for a sublime journey full of breathtaking scenery and authentic Douro flavors!

  • Visits and wine tastings at the Wine Estates are only available in Portuguese and English. 
  • Transfers between sites are made by minivan or minibus.
  • The boat trip takes place on the traditional Rabelo boat.
  • Our guide will accompany the group to the boarding point at the Pinhão pier.
  • * The Pinhão - Régua journey will be made by train, subject to availability by CP. In the event of a CP strike, the return journey will be made by minivan or minibus.
  • The train journey is made on a regular CP train and is not an exclusive service, so the journey is the sole responsibility of CP and we cannot guarantee every seated seat.
  • Train tickets for the return trip to Régua will be issued by our guide during the program.
  • This program takes place exclusively between the months of November and March.

DOURO SUBLIMADO: Fall and Winter

Wine Tasting at Quinta dos Mattos, Visit to the São Leonardo de Galafura Viewpoint, Regional Lunch, Rabelo Boat Cruise and Train trip along the banks of the Douro River

Meet us at Cais da Régua and start your adventure through the enchanting Douro Valley.

In the morning, our first destination will be the Miradouro of São Leonardo da Galafura, an idyllic spot that inspired Miguel Torga and which today pays homage to him.

“Dive” into the Douro as Miguel Torga did and contemplate this ‘excess of nature’. 

Next, we'll visit a family-run estate in the region, where you'll be able to observe the genuine work of the Douro in its purest form, far from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you will have the opportunity to taste four locally produced wines.

After the tasting, we want to introduce you to the flavors of the region. A typical lunch will be waiting for you at a family Wine Estate, a cozy space where you can taste the delicious local cuisine.

Next, we'll board a Rabelo Boat to take in the views between the banks of the Pinhão and the Tua, allowing you to enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of the Douro.

When we arrive in Pinhão, there will be free time to explore this picturesque village of stunning natural beauty. We will then start the journey back to Régua by train along the Douro line, a breathtaking journey always accompanied by the river.
